Victor Felipe Pellot Pove

Victor Felipe Pellot Pove just passed away. Most people knew him as Vic Power, a former first baseman for the Indians. He was one of the Indians' all-time most colorful characters. He won seven consecutive gold gloves, made four All-Star teams, and played in the one and only Latin All Star game at the Polo Grounds, but no one remembers much or any of that. He will forever be the guy the Indians got for Roger Maris.

Vinny,

I think you're the first guy to mention Power's passing without noting that he was the last man to steal home twice in one game, so I'll mention it. He did it against the Tigers on August 14th, 1958, and his second steal came in the 10th inning and won the game. What's even more amazing is that he only stole a total of three bases that entire season.

By the way, the Indians are the only team in either league to have two players accomplish this feat. Joe Jackson did it against New York on August 11, 1912.
